The game of basketball is one that is enjoyed by many young people of both genders. Some are involved in the sport during their school years then after leaving school, they are no longer interested in it. Then there are those who start off playing basketball in school and develop such a passion for it that they start thinking about it as a career.
Making It to the Pros
It is soon learned that making it to the pros in basketball or any sport for that matter is no easy task. There have been some statistics gathered concerning this. Some of these say that for high school kids playing in men’s basketball to get the chance to go onto the NCAA equates to less than one in thirty-five making it. For the women, the odds are about three in every one hundred.
Even though these are tough odds, players who have a talent in the game should not just give up trying to make it to the pros just because of the odds.
There are always basketball recruiters that are on the lookout for tomorrow’s basketball stars. There are college recruiters who have this responsibility.
Know the Rules
It can be overwhelming to be approached by a recruiter, but keeping a level head about this is important in regard to the future. The advice is not to sign with a team or an agent during the high school years. The reason for this is because it could prevent a player from qualifying to entering the pro level.
Never Stop Perfecting
Practice makes perfect and for those aspiring to hit the pros they can never get to the point where they think they are good enough that they don’t need to practice anymore. The more competitions a player enters, the better chance they have of becoming recognized.
